Long Time No See

I know it has been forever since I have updated, but I have either been too busy or I have just not felt like blogging. Today, though, is the first day in long time that I actually do not have anything that I have to do and it is nice!! This is my last week of Christmas break so I hope the rest of it is relaxing as today!

Dan and I had a great Christmas. We did our usual with each of our families and also got to hang out with friends too. Here are some pictures...

Happy Fall!

Each fall I plant pansies and other plants in my pots and they end up looking good throughout the winter. But I thought I should spruce it up a little for the season so I came up with this....

I also have some pictures of our "child" since most of you guys have pictures of your children on your blog. Hicks spent the weekend with me at my parents house a couple of weekends ago and we had a big time dressing him up a little. Check these out...

I am sure now that you think we have problem. It seems that every post is about us dressing Hicks up, but I hope you got a laugh out of these like we all did!!

I wonder if this is a sign of things my child will have to suffer through? hahahaa maybe I won't be that bored...

Smiling :)

Here are some recent pictures I have taken that make me smile!!
Dan planted tons of sunflowers at their land and they look beautiful. I have had some pretty sunflowers in my house all summer and have enjoyed it!!

Dan and I love dressing Hicks up!! I don't know if he enjoys it that much, but we get so tickled that I think he thinks he is doing something good. I hope you get a kick out of these pictures.

Forever!

It has been forever since I have blogged. Sorry about that! I will update you even though nothing much exciting has gone on. I guess that is why I have not had the urge to write....
The past two weeks, I have been getting ready for school to start back. I have been making folders, conduct charts, bulletin boards and planning for the first day of school which was last week on Thursday. The first day was good, I am excited about my new students and hope to have a great year. I am sure I will have some stories to tell considering a couple of the kids I have.

Dan has been just been working and playing. I swear he is like a little child. He is always coming up with stuff to go do. I don't think he can just hang out home unless he is sick. If he is not working he is either playing golf, fishing, boat riding, hanging out with his friends, or this weekend it was pool volleyball.... I guess it is good he is still young at heart!
Hicks is fine... He is having trouble with his allergies. He has the worst skin allergies ever. He scratches non stop. Yes, we have been to the vet tons and have done it all, but nothing cures it. So, I feel sorry for him. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to let me know.
For now, have GREAT week!

I Can't Think of a Title :)

So I finally have a chance to sit down and tell you what all has been going on since I blogged last. Even though it is summer and I am not working, it has been non-stop.

First of all, my sister in law, Dixie, had her baby, Anna Jane, the first week I was out. We kept Addie (her daughter) while she was in the hospital. We kept her three nights and man that was a job!! She is two and a half and soooo energetic. I do think the worst part was getting her in and out of the car seat in 90+ degree weather and not being able to go and do whatever YOU want to do WHENEVER you want to do it. Although, I will have to say that it was fun playing Mom, but Dan and I were glad to give her back. I think maybe one night sleep overs will be better...

After playing Mom, Dan and I got to experience Bama Jam or Bammy Jammy, as we called it. It was a three night country music festival in Enterprise. We only went one night to see Hank Williams and Lynard Skynard. I will have to say it was pretty much a redneck fest. When I saw a tractor pulling a big trailer with people paying to ride it and public showers in an 18 wheeler trailer (yes, that is the pic of it minus the sho), I knew that I probably was not going to have the time of my life. I went though and toughed it out in the DUST and HEAT... My feet were probably dirtier than they have ever been in my life.
(I spy some rednecks!)

Then last week, I taught first grade at VBS. I really enjoyed it!! It not only helped me become more involved in our church, but the lessons that were taught each day reminded me of many things I seem to forget sometimes: Be Kind, Be Forgiving, Be Obediant, Be Bold, and Believe! They were wonderful lessons for the children to learn and they had a good time!

Finally, we went to the beach again this past weekend. Dan went to a bachlor party and I went to spend time with my parents at their place. That was definately relaxing and it is always nice.

So now I am home with nothing to do except for what I want and I am enjoying it!! This weekend is Dan's 10 year class reunion... Man, how time flies. He is really excited and I am sure I will have some good stories after this weekend to blog about.

So for now... have a wonderful week!!

School's Out for Summer!!

Finally summer is here! I have been counting down the days. I've been so ready for a break and some time to relax and do whatever I want. So.... to start my break off the right way, Dan and I went to the beach for the weekend. We had a great time! We ate some really good food, enjoyed the beach, and relaxed. On Sunday, Dan went deep sea fishing all day with his buddies and I hung out with my parents. It was really nice to spend some time with them. And since I didn't have to go to work Monday, we were not in a hurry to get back like I usually am so we didn't even leave the beach until about 7:30 Sunday night. Here are some pictures of the fish they caught. The caught snapper, grouper and trigger fish. I can't wait for them to cook them!

Have You Seen My Sunglasses?

So I wrote about going to Bunko last Thursday as you know. Well it all started then.... I rode with Kate to Bunko and I was showing her my new sunglasses that Dan had just bought me at the beach the weekend before. I was so proud of them and was wearing them anytime the sun was even peaking out. But no big deal, I was wearing sunglasses to Bunko.... Well the next morning, I could not find them on the way to school, but for me that is totally normal because I always misplace them or they are at the bottom of my purse and I didn't dig deep enough. I went on my merry way to school and didn't think about it again. I knew they would turn up. Well, it happened again after school, but still I had no worries. Then on Saturday, Dan and I were going to ride in his Samurai (hot stuff) and Dan says, "Don't you need your new sunglasses, it is pretty bright out here?" So at that point I said to myself, "OK I better think hard and find those jokers!" I told him to hold on a sec and I would look in my car. Well, I looked GOOD. I was scrambling for those things everywhere even in my purse, because I knew he would be upset if I lost the sunglasses HE gave me. Anyway, I had no luck so I went back to the car and told him not worry, they must be inside or in Kate's car since I rode with her to Bunko. Well he had all the time in the world for me to go search inside for them so I did and again found nothing. Finally, I was worried about this situation. I told him that I would call Kate and I was SURE they were in her car, but for us to just go on and take our little ride. Well to cut to the chase, they were not in Kate's car. I called her numerous times and said, "Just please look one more time I know they must be in there because that is last place I had them." She continually assured me that they were not and that she had now cleaned her entire car out and had found NO sunglasses. So in the meantime, Dan had kind of forgotten about the loss but I was secretly searching my purse three times a day, calling the ladies house we played Bunko at and emailing everyone that was at Bunko to see if they had found the missing sunglasses. And of course NO ONE had seen them. Well today was a week ago they were lost so I finally said, "Okay, I have got to get another pair of these before he finds out I lost them. So I call all the Sunglass Hut's around and Dothan had them. Thank the Lord! I called my mom and told her the story so she said that she would go get them and bring them to the beach this weekend so I could get them. I was releived. But..... that doesn't end it. When I got home from work I thought I would check my purse one more time. Maybe they will appear... Well, I checked and guess what......... there they were in the sunglass case that had been there all week. I swear I checked there though.....So I call Mom hoping that she had not gone to buy them yet and of course she had so she had to go right back and return them.
I mean WHAT IN THE WORLD? I felt so stupid, but that is par for the course with me. I hope you guys get a kick out of my sunglass fiasco! Dan sure did when I let him in on the whole story.

Fun Filled Week!

We have had a fun filled week even though work has been crazy. My students are just filled with excitement about summer and you can tell. They are so hyped up and I know this week will be even worse. Only 7 1/2 more days though. We can make it!!

So as you know, Sunday was Mother's Day and we spent the weekend at the beach with my parents. It was very relaxing and much needed. It was also nice to spend time with them. It seems like we never see each other for a good length of time anymore. Then on Sunday we came home and had Dan's family over and grilled ribs. They were DELICIOUS! Dan has recently started cooking these ribs and we are hooked. Here is a picture of Dixie, (Dan's sister) Andy and Addie. Dixie is about to POP. She is due the first week in June. Addie had a good time playing in Hick's box. That kept her entertained AND got her dirty.

On Tuesday night, we kept Addie. We took her out to eat at Myori. She thought it was really neat watching the man cook. Nikki and Chad came with us and brought Paige, their little girl. Addie and Paige had fun playing together afterwards at our house!! It also reinforced the fact that we are not ready for children right this second:)

This was also the week for our monthly Bunco get together except this one was extra special. Instead of our group of girls playing by ourselves we joined up with 2 other Bunco groups in Enterprise. They are made up of women that are my mother's age. So I am sure you can imagine the fun we had. I think that those ladies had even more fun than we did. They are hard core Bunco players!

AND THEN lastnight we had some friends over to grill out steaks. It seems like that is our normal Saturday afternoon/night tradition. If we are not out of town, that is usually where you can find us on Saturday. We have gotten to where we don't care about "going out" anymore, we would just rather relax with friends and go to bed early. Does that mean we are getting old?? It sounds like it to me...

So as you can see, we had a fun week! I hope this one is a little quieter though since I know school is going to tire me out big time.

Well, I Did It!

I have read your blogs for a while now and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Each time I read them the thought of creating my own blog passes through my mind, but I just told myself that I had too many other things I could or actually needed to be doing rather than wasting my time on the computer. (I am sure you guys say the same thing.)

But here I am.....

Why not stop and do something you enjoy for a few minutes out of the day? Right? That was my conclusion. So here I am writing to you. I hope I can make it as interesting as some of you other bloggersout there. I will go ahead and warn you that there will be many typos in my writing. I will check over it, but I am definitely am not the best at that. Those of you that know me well will surely agree.

I will begin with a little background... Dan and I got married on January 13, 2007 so we have been married a year and 4 months. It has flown by!! We are having such a great time doing all the married couple things. I teach 1st grade and absolutely love it! My children keep my laughing and make me so happy. Dan has just recently ventured out and started his own business. He and his partner buy timber. I really will not go into all of that because most of that just goes right over my head. Although, I will probably bet you that I know more about buying and cutting trees than most girls do. We do have one child and his name is Hicks. He is a black lab and he is our life. This is probably the most spoiled dog in the world. He literally can do whatever he wants to do. He has it made! I will be sure to post some pictures of him!

We have about two and a half week until summer and I am ready. I will miss my little kidos, but a break is much needed. I do not have much planned for the summer other than teaching VBS at our church, going to the beach frequently, and going on a white water rafting trip with college friends. The main thing is to relax. I know that it will fly by.

I guess that is a pretty good start for my first blog. I will be back later and hopefully it will be a little more interesting!
