The Name and Nursery!!!

We have decided on a name.......

Mary Maddox Jernigan!!!

We will call her Maddox.

Mary Maddox is my great grandmother's name and Maddox is my mom's maiden name. This was Dan's favorite name that we were contemplating. That made it easier for me because I liked all the names we were talking about the same. It is so much fun to have decided on one and actually call her her name!

Now on to the decorating!

Maddox’s Crib

Roth Nantucket-pink
Embroidered scalloped edge with dots
This will be used as the gathered bed skirt:

Roth Country Gingham- pink
This will be used as the sheet, cording on the bumper and the ties.
I also might use this as a skirt too. It would hang out from under the dot fabric. Which would look like this:

Ciao- Meadow Blue
The diamonds don’t look that small really. It looks a lot better/bigger in person. The dragonflies look stamped. The body is white and pink and the wings are yellow and white.
This will be used as the outside of the bumper.

Matelasse Diamond- white
This fabric is so soft. It feels like a quilt. It will be used as the inside of the bumper and I will have her initials monogrammed in a soft pink right in the center kind of like this:

For the drapes, I will use one or two of these fabrics and the walls will be a very, very soft pink. I still need a rocking chair. I don't know if I want to buy an upholstered chair or use my grandmother's wooden rocker and get some cushions made...

Any suggestions on which fabric(s) I should use for the drapes???

IT'S A GIRL!!!!!!

Dan and I went yesterday to the doctor and we were desperately hoping that we would be able to find out what this baby was in my tummy. I am just 15 weeks, but the ultrasound tech said last time we went that she would probably be able to tell. We were so excited we got there early and she was able to take us right back and give us a little more time than normal. It was so neat to see this sweet baby. She had grown so much since the last time and you could see so much more. She really looked like a little baby. She also was moving around ALOT. I guess she is going to take after her Daddy. It is hard to believe that I can not feel her moving and she is about the size of an average hand... esspeically as much as she was moving yesterday. We finally got the view we wanted and she told us it was pretty certain that it was a GIRL! I could see the " 3 lines" or the "hamburger" as they say really clearly. So we got both Mom and Dad to come in a take a peek at their granddaughter. We couldn't let them miss out on it.

What makes it even more exciting is that Anna, my best friend, is having a girl in October and Grover, one of Dan's best friend, is having a girl toward the end July so we will have really good excuses to see them more often! Hopefully they will all become as good of friends as we are!!

So if you know me, I am already making plans to start decorating the nursery. That is right up my ally! I am going next week to look at fabric so hopefully I'll come back with some ideas.

Until then, have a fun Fourth of July!!!

Yummy!!!

Since summer is finally here and I am not working (Praise the Lord), I have actually had time and time where I have felt good enough to be a good wife and cook my sweet husband supper. I was kind of nervous about making this for Dan because even though he says he is not a picky eater, he kind of is. I have been craving Quiche Lorraine. My mom used to make it and we absoluetly loved it even though it is not the healthiest. It reminded Dan of a breakfast casserole, but he said it was even better. He liked it so much he got seconds lastnight and had it for breakfast this morning. So I want to share the recipe with you....

Quiche Lorraine

1/2 lb. bacon slices (10-12 slices)
1 9 inch unbaked pie shell
1 1/2 cup grated imported swiss cheese
1 Tablespoon of bacon fat
1 small onoin; minced
3 eggs
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
dash of cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard

Cook bacon until crisp. Drain and cut in 1 inch pieces and put into the bottom of the pie shell. Sprinkle the grated cheese over bacon. Then in 1 T. of bacon grease saute onions until golden. Drain the onions and sprinkle them over the cheese. When you are ready to bake the quiche, combine the eggs, cream, milk, and seasonings. Pour the mixture over the layered bacon, cheese, and onions. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes or until firm and brown. Cool then cut into wedges.

We had the quiche with fresh fruit and a slice of bananna bread that I also made yesterday. Here is the recipe for that. Again this is my mom's recipe and it is SO YUMMY!!

Bananna Bread

1 stick butter, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1 cup of smashed, ripe banannas (I used 3 banannas)
1/2 cup nuts, chopped (walnuts or pecans or my fav)
1/2 cup sour cream
1 1/2 cup flour (suppose to sift dry ingredients, but I didn't)
1 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Alternate adding dry ingrediants and sour cream and banannas. Then mix in the nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until tooth pick comes out clean.

I hope you enjoy the recipes. We sure did. This would also be a good shower menu for a baby shower or bridal shower.

On a different note, I had a doctor's appointment yesterday. Everything went well. I am 11 weeks and everything looked as they should. Here is the picture that they gave me. It is not very good though... I saw better images while she was doing the ultrasound, but oh well this is all I got. We saw the feet and hands and the profile. We also got to see the baby move a little. It was really neat!

I go back June 30th and they are going to "guess" the sex. So hopefully she will be able to have a little certainty in her "guess."

Well, it is raining here today and is supposed to all day so I am going to relax and maybe cook some more. I'll let you know what I decide and how it turns out.

OH and Bama Jam is starting today and I have NOOOOOO desire to go hangout with drunk, stinky, rednecks. They come from all over, it's alot like the people you see at the Peanut Festival. I went last year for 1 night and I was miserable. I think I was the dustiest and sweatiest I had ever been. I know I would be even more miserable this year being pregnant. Okay not everyone is a drunk, stinky, redneck because some of my friends are going and I'm sure my husband will put in to go at some point, but you get the point.

A Pouting, but Proud Pregnancy

I am VERY excited about being pregnant!! Although, some of it leaves me pouting and not feeling like myself. I thought I was going to be a pro pregnant person up until about 7 1/2 weeks. THEN IT HIT! I have had every stomach ailment you could ask for. The worst have been being nauseated and indigestion. You never know when they are going to hit. It is mainly in the afternoon and last into the night. Going to sleep is really the only thing that cures it. BUT it has hit me in the mornings too and being at school with a bunch of 1st graders and feeling like that is NOT fun. I hope that it ends soon and does not last into my second trimester. I am 10 weeks right now so maybe only 3 or 4 weeks left.

The Bump. I feel funny saying that I have bump, a very small one, but I think I do. It seems like it is too early for it, but I have not gained weight and my regular pants are a little tight. I had to do the rubber band thing for the first time the other day. I do know that my stomach is harder than usual and I can't suck in. Has anyone else been able to tell this early??

Dan. He is trying to understand, but poor thing he just doesn't (and it has caused some problems :)). He can't understand why I am not myself all the time anymore. He really doesn't understand why I just come home from work and want to sit down and do nothing, even on the weekends. He thinks I am a dud. And remember, that is when I feel the worst (afternoons and nights). I do feel bad for him though because I really do not cook him supper anymore. By that time the smell of food and looking at food does not go well with me. I try my best, but it is pretty pitiful at our house during supper time. I hope we both get a little more understanding soon....

Speaking of food... it is crazy the way I have become very picky. I have never been a picky eater, but I am now. All I seem to want to eat is fruit and salty carbs. Meat makes me want to vomit. We went to the beach with my family this weekend and Dan grilled his famous ribs and chicken that I usually LOVE. Well, the smell of that did really bad things to me. Drinks are really weird too. I used to say that I couldn't live without a Diet Coke. I was actually worried about being pregnant and not being able to have any. I think that was the first question I asked the doctor. But I really don't want them much anymore. And really no drink has seemed very appealing to me, but I feel like I really want something hydrating. It is weird! Does this last the whole pregnancy?

Excited? YES I am so excited and can't wait until I have Baby J. I hope it doesn't seem like forever. I also am so anxious to find out what it is so I can start planning.

I have my next appointment next Wednesday and I will be 11 weeks. Hopefully we will see more of a baby on the ultrasound. Until then, please pray that I make it through Friday without going crazy. Friday is our last day of school then we are out for summer and I don't think it will get here soon enough.

I'll be back after I go to my appointment next week with an update.

** Sorry I didnt post pics, but I havent taken any lately.

It's Confirmed!!

Up until Thursday I was pretty sure I was pregnant because of the test and other obvious things, but I have not had any of the other symptoms that can supposedly go along with being pregnant. I began to second guess the home pregnancy test because everyone was aksing if I had been sick, tired, etc. My answer was always no.... but now I can rest easy. He is there!!!

Thursday I went for my first OB appointment. It was very exciting! We got to see Baby J even though he is only the size of a peanut, if that. His heart is beating 90to nothing, so neat to see! We cannot wait to go back in 5 weeks and hopefully see something that maybe has more of a "baby shape."

My due date is Christmas Day!! I am hoping he decides to come a week or so early. It would be fun to have him on Christmas with all the family together. I guess time will tell. Can I wait that long?? I don't think so. I am already ready for him to come!!!!

**** BTW, there is no reason I kept using "he" instead of "she." I just didn't want to call Baby J, IT.

Other than being pregnant, there is also something else that is exciting. I am sure most of you know, but my best friend, Anna, is pregnant now too. She is 2 months ahead of me. When we were younger we always talked about having babies at the same time and now it has come true and it was totally not planned. How God plans things can be amazing. I am getting good info from her since she has gone through my stage of being pregnant already!! Thanks Anna!!

We are definitely going to have some proud grandparents. My mom and dad are so excited. This will be their first. I'm glad too. (*wink*wink) Dan's parents already have 2 granddaughters, but are just as thrilled and already prepared for sleepovers :)

I will update sooner now that I actually feel like I have something "blog worthy." Keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer that I continue to feel good!!

Is Anyone There??

I know I have not written anything in a long time, but I had a reason.... until someone told me I was wrong.

SOOOO I want to find out if I am or not.

Okay, I have written these blogs, but just feel like they are so boring compared to everyone else because they talk about their children, exciting things that they have been doing, their pregnancy, their creative crafts or sewing projects and whatever else that just seems alot more interesting for readers than... my dog (which I found myself writing about alot). So I am here to find out if anyone reads this and if you think I should continue, even if it is about my dog :) Leave me a message and let me know what you think. Let's see if it is worth it.

I can say though, that one exciting thing has happened since I blogged last. Justin, my brother, got married to a wonderful, beautiful, sweet girl named, Kate Denney, on February 28. It was a fantastic wedding.

Here is a picture of them at the rehearsal dinner.

That's all for now. Have a great Easter this weekend!
